HP PSC1210 blurry scanning after dropping the unit
Hi,
New here so lets make it a try! I started at a antoher forum but it was crap - no answers from anyone, regardless of question! My HP all-in-one gave up and while I was fixing a it (found the problem - it was a loose gear-wheel!) I had to do some testing, and at a unattended moment the upper part - containing the scanner - fell right on the (concrete) floor! The glass was OK and the whole scanner is just one moving part (+ 2 small rollers at the end) so it was easy to assemble it back again. But after some testing of the scanner all pictures are "blurry" and unfocused. It looks like misprinted color pictures in a newspaper when the colors are not exacty upon each other. There are no adjustments on the scanner unit (as I can see) and I've tried to reset it due to instructions from HP; the unit will recalibrate if it's powered on and off (the hard way: unplugging the cord) while scanning. But it won't help. Is there any (secret) way to calibrate or adjust the scanning unit? Using some (hard-to-get, for technicians only) software mabye? The scanning unit is just one square plastic part - with three screws, though. But I'm not sure if I can open it that way or if there is something inside it that can be adjusted. Well, the printer/scanner is old, cheap and noisy but I've just bougth new cartridges and are quite satisfyed with it in general so I hope to fix it myself! All answers are appreciated!

Re: HP PSC1210 blurry scanning after dropping the unit
I work as a field service engineer on Ricoh, Oce (wide format), Sharp and Panasonic copiers printers and faxes.
Most of the scanners use ccds Charge coupled devices that are factory set. In the old days they published information on setting them up but that required an oscilloscope and and a test pattern. It is possible that a mirror has been nudged out of position or if you have refitted mirrors it is back to front. the mirrors are glass with a coating on one side the coating should be the side facing the light source otherwise you get a reflection from the glass and the mirror coating. If the scanning mirror housing has been bent then good luck getting it back you might have some luck with a set square but ............... |

Re: HP PSC1210 blurry scanning after dropping the unit
It's sealed and almost impossible to open without braking it. I assume that the scanner-module is used in many HP models, and the world is full of spare-part All-in-one-printers... Can anyone check the spare part number or even better: a list of HP printers using this specific scanner-module?
