Hello Everyone,
I have a ricoh cl4000dn that is putting streaks through out the entire page of all its color print outs. If I print in black and white everything looks fine. With that said I am not sure if this is a transfer unit problem or a PCU issue. I took out the transfer unit to look to see how it looked and the streaks that are appearing on the color print outs are similar to the lines or scratches from wear on the transfer unit. But what stumps me is why they wouldn't show up on the black and white print outs. Any suggestions on what needs replacing here? thanks Last edited by wilk; 09-18-2007 at 08:01 AM. |

Re: ricoh cl4000dn Failing transfer unit?
The transfer belt has a life of 100k the pcu has a life of 50k.
I have seen the pcu's die before this depending on the volume of pages printed and the % coverage. It is more likely to be the pcu if the black is ok. Can you look at the colour pcu and see if the lines are on it. The best way is to print a colour page and when the paper gets about half way switch the machine off. Take the pcu drums out and look at the surface and see if the problem is visable. REMEMBER DO NOT TOUCH THE DRUM SURFACE |

Re: ricoh cl4000dn Failing transfer unit?
I checked the three PCU's and since there is one for each color. they have some scratches on them. However i just replaced the blue one not to long ago. The lines that i am getting resemble what i getting are closer to the belt. Yet i tend to agree with you that its more likely the PCU the only question now is witch one? I assuming the cyan and yellow one since they are the color lines that i am getting?

Re: ricoh cl4000dn Failing transfer unit?
It was the same exact streaks on each color and when i did the test you said to do in you first post the only thing showing this lines on it was the belt everything else wasn't showing excess toner.
