Hello techies,
I'm new to this forum, I found it through googling for my problem, thought you guys may have the answer for me (so yes, technically I'm a techleecher. ;) ). Hope you can help. Here's my issue: I have a FS-1010, has printed perfectly for some 6000 pages (status page number, it's a second-hand), but the toner had run out. I had a toner refill, so I opened the side of the toner kit, added toner, shook the toner kit, cleaned the inside of the printer, and replaced the toner kit. The printer still showed red toner LED (not flashing). I powered off the printer, pressed (and held) the green (C) style button and powered the printer back on (manual tells me that's the toner reset combo, which I figure I need). Now, the printer won't go to online status at all, just sits there looking at me with one red eye. Which makes me sad, because I like this extremely low cost printing (for my studies...) So, hopefully I have provided enough detail, if not, please ask. I hope one of you knows what to do, this machine is just waiting to print so much more for me! :) Thanks in advance, Dominique Last edited by Cipher4096 : 09-06-2007 at 04:17 PM. |

Re: FS-1010 red toner light will not go out
Welcome to TSF
![]() There may be more detail needed. A quick look at the manual (if I have the correct one), shows several different error messages involving the red light. On, flashing fast, flashing slowly, etc. possibly combined with an error code on the LCD. Have a look, trouble codes start on pg 118 http://files.oce.com/nl/download/pri...gelstalig).pdf |

Re: FS-1010 red toner light will not go out
Hi jflan,
Thanks for your response. That's the proper file indeed. The combination of LEDs I'm looking at is not in the file directly (by image), although if you look at page 3-2 of the PDF, you will see what I have. (1) non-flashing (2) red toner light (3) with printer not printing Woops, correct that. It _is_ in the manual. Page 120, (4-7), indicator "Replace Toner TK-17" is spot on my indicator.. Do you know why this light won't go off after I refilled the toner? |

Re: FS-1010 red toner light will not go out
Did you remove the plastic tab from the toner cartridge?
It would not be the first time I have been called to a faulty printer to find the cartridge had not been correctly installed. You say in your post that you refilled the toner. Did you replace the whole cartridge or pour toner into the machine? Every machine has different toner have you checked that it is the correct type? Also some cartridges have a chip embedded that tells the machine that it has been replaced it is possible that this has failed either in the cartridge or within the machine. I have not worked on this model of printer (I work on Ricoh, Sharp, Oce and HP) but hope you find a solution. Andrew |

Hello Andrew,
Thanks for your response. I refilled the toner cartridge (this cartridge: https://www.redtagtoner.com/impro/images/items/TK17.jpg) and the toner has printed before, so I know it's the proper "toner box". I have to say I do not know if the toner refill was proper (I bought it second hand and the man assured me it was, but who knows...) What I DO notice is that, when I remove the cartridge, almost no toner spills out. Is this normal, or is this indicative of a problem? How does the printer get the toner out normally? I believe that this toner cartridge is made for being refilled, as there is a rubber cap to the side, and some websites (for refilling, I'll admit) point to this and say "pour and go", so I do not think there's a toner counter or something. In the meantime, I have ordered a new TK-17 from a website, so perhaps we can -when I receive the new one- decide whether it was bad refilling that got me into trouble... :) Thanks for looking at my question anyhow! (In the meantime, if anyone had the same issue and solved it by "doing this or that", I'm still open to suggestions, naturally!) Dominique |
