Canon Pixma MP160-Pblm with Win XP

Hi

I have bought a new Canon MP160 and having problems detecting the device. I am having windows XP home edition on my Dell Laptop and whenever i connect the printer it gives me a message that the "USB device connected has malfunctioned, replace the device".

I bought the printer 2 months back and intially when i connected it was detected and worked fine but all of a sudden after some days i started getting this error message whenever i try to connect the device to he laptop. I have tried out all options of uninstalling the drivers and reloading it etc.. But in no vain. Can somebody please help with this problem.

Re: Canon Pixma MP160-Pblm with Win XP

Have you tried different ports? If you're using a hub, I've been told it won't work. Contact Canon and see what they have to say.

I have that same printer. Just installed it a few days ago. Printer and copier work. Can't get the scanner to work. Tried everything Canon says, and it still doesn't work. Sorry for the hijack.

Re: Canon Pixma MP160-Pblm with Win XP

I am not using a hub.The printer came with USB cable and thats the only port on the printer side i have tried. On my laptop i have tried on all USB ports but it does not work. Other USB device like my mouse, pen drive etc works absolutely fine with the laptop.

Exclamation Re: Canon Pixma MP160-Pblm with Win XP *SOLUTION*

Greetings-

I also own a Canon Pixma MP160. It worked yesterday, but when I went to print today, Windows gave me the same error.

SOLUTION:
I also had my mp3 player connected via USB (Rio ce2100) to charge it. While it was connected I could not get my printer to work properly. I disconnected it, rebooted and it worked like a charm.

So if you experience this issue, check to see what other USB devices you have connected that might be causing this conflict.
