HP Deskjet 840C : Low Ink Light

Hi,

I am using a HP Deskjet 840C, lately it has started showing up the Low Ink Light even when the catridges are fine.

Have tried using the catridges with another printer it works fine. But other catridges have the same issue with my printer. Also, at times the light goes off on its own & then it prints the pages normally.

Kindly assist.

Re: HP Deskjet 840C : Low Ink Light

The printer gets its ink level readings through the electrical connection between the cartridge and the printhead.
Over time these "contacts" can become oxidized or otherwise dirty.
You can try cleaning them with Isopropyl Alcohol and a low-lint fabric like a coffee filter.

If there are "pins" on the printhead side, verify that they are all straight.

Also, on some HP's there were tabs that would break over time that helped to hold the cartridges in place.

Re: HP Deskjet 840C : Low Ink Light

I have the same problem, but I bypassed the failure with nexy procedure:
·Open the cover and disconnect the power
·Push the printhead to the left side and close the cover
·Connect the power and wait aprox. 1 min, when the ink low goes off the printer is ready to print.
This procedure is necesary each time that printer is power off

Thanx Wilcong but all I can say is buddy you were lucky to get thru the bypass.

I had to replace the catridge.
