hp psc 2110 "java virtual machine will not load"

Thanks to people in this forum, I have been able to reinstall my printer drivers for my hp psc 2110. When I installed though, I got an error message that read "unable to install application, java virtual machine will not load". The installation continued after that and I can print from my file menus. But I can't open the HP director to scan and copy. I can scan directly from the printer/scanner, but it won't scan to the adobe reader, and adobe won't open the file I create with my other imaging software. Any suggestions? Thanks again for all the help.

Let's make sure you have the latest Java loaded.
Go to www.java.com and choose free Java download.

Thanks for your reply. I did check and I do have the latest version. I checked and found I also had two old versions loaded on my computer and I had them removed. Before I go back to the uninstall reinstall process that gave me so much trouble last time I thought I'd ask if you think I'm ready to do that or if there's something else I need to try. Could those old Java programs have been causing the problem? Thanks again.

Yes they could. Normally I do not use anything but the Sun Java I linked you to.

Thanks very much for your help. Everything is up and running now. My printer used a microsoft version of the java software in the scanning process, and my new computer had that version removed due to a legal dispute with Sun Microsystems. Once I reinstalled the printer/scanner drivers, I got the IE7 patch from HP and now everything is working great. I really appreciate your help.
