I have been installing new and refilled cartridges for a long time and have performed alignment without problems. This time I installed a new, black HP cartridge with the result that the alignment page starts to print and then stops, followed by the message alignment cancelled. I reinstalled the old cartridge and received the same result and message. Thanks in advance for your reply.

Hi, I've read this works;
When it asks you to press enter to start the alignment, just press and hold both "options" and "setup" simultaneously for about 5 seconds.

Hey Houndog:
By simultaneously pressing "options" and "set up" I was able to clear the
"alignment cancelled" message. Since I was already able to print documents, clearing the message became my remaining concern. We'll see what happens when I next install replacement cartridges. In any event I will remember your solution. Best regards.
