Dell Photo Printer 720 Not Communicating

How is everybody doing? I am having a problem with my printer communicating with my Windows XP Desktop.I have uninstalled the printer and reinstalled it, I have tried system restore, I have restarted the computer, shut off the power supply, and went to the Dell webiste and updated my driver and it still does not work. I went into device manager and uninstalled something but I am not sure what I did.Please help

Ok your dell 720 is most likely a rebadged lexmark 617.

You may wish to checkout the lexmark site for support.

Ok first off check the USB connecting lead make sure is connected properly. ideally try another lead.

The next trick is crude but very effective. With the PC turned on and all leads connected, remove the mains power lead from the printer wait for a few second and reconnect it. This will force the printer to do a reset.

dell printers have been rated the worst. i would replace the machine. you can only get the ink off of the dell website and would cost you $58.94 not including shipping. Staples does carry a few reman (including your machine) but even then your still paying $55.96 for the average 400 page yield. also, your machine only prints at a maximum of 14ppm. my HP is lower end and prints at 30ppm max.

an hp would give you world famous reliability, and a machine using the 02 series ink cartridges would give you the luxury of using individual color cartridges (thus saving you from waisting inks that may be half way full just to replace one ink) and would cost you a total of $62.98 at a retail store and the black cartridge has a 680 page yield.
and if you dont care about photo quality (being that you have this kind of machine, im doubting that you do care) you could get an HP that takes the 88xl series cartridges. the black costs $34.99 and prints a 2,350 page yield and the colors cost $24.99 and yield up to 1,210 pages. and if you werent going to use much of a specific cartridge, they offer standard yield cheaper cartridges.

720 printer not communicating
Un-installed the printer and tried to re-install. It says ther is a problem with the print monitor and will not install . I restored my windows xp to get the printer back but it will not print ,not even a test page.
HELP
