Printer won't communicate Running on Vista

My story is alot like some others yet I have not found a solution for my problem through tha other comments NO COMMUNICAT^ION IS A HUGE PROBLEM WHEN YOUR IN COLLEGE AND WORK IS DUE!!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

check your printer is set as the default vista has a habit of switching it back to the vista one,i uninstalled [deleted] all but my canon from the printers to stop it

I would make sure your drivers are compatible with Windows Vista. For example say that this printer works on a computer with XP as its OS but will not run on Vista. Do a search and see if you can find compatible drivers.

what kind of printer do you have?
i know that if its a new hp, the cd that came with it is useless. you have to download a different installation program off of the hp website.
