(Resolved) Problem with New Printer

Ive only just bought a new PC which comes with Windows Vista. With it i got a new printer (Dell Color Printer 725) It's all set up but when i try to print anything it comes up with a message saying

'Communication Not Available'

Ive ensured its on, disconnected and connected and checked firewall and restarted the computer. What else can i do?

Please help me.

Hi Simon,

if you go to Start -> Printers, it is set as the default printer?

Re: Problem with New Printer

Have you tried reinstalling the printer? Sometimes it could be as simple as a faulty install from a missing file or misplaced file by windows. Try reinsttalling it and checking in the device manager to ensure it shows up. Also make sure before you do that that its set to print to usb sometimes windows gets goofy and installs in the wrong output like lpt or even a virtual drive...

Re: Problem with New Printer

I could try them steps, but to me that page seems like its aimed more towards those who updated to Vista. I didn't update it. It was already installed on a brand new machine.

Re: Problem with New Printer

Ok. I've fixed it now. It decided to work after i reinstalled it again. I would lock this, but i don't know how. I'm sure someone will.
