HP C4180 On Network
Hi,
Basically I have the printer installed on Windows XP but when I go onto the printer properties and on sharing accross my network, I found out that i can use the printer through the network from my Windows Vista PC but for that i need the additional driver for Windows Vista. now Windows Vista is not in the additional driver list. I went to the HP website but how do i know what to download and install so I can use the printer from my windows vista pc throught my network. Here are the screen shots of what im on about Properties.JPG Additional Drivers.JPG All Support Greatful Thanks. Jay. |

I would go for the basic printer/scanner driver (2nd item) for starters. You can always go back and get the big package later if you think you need it. There are release notes and instructions on the next page. Make a note of where you install it, in case you have to point Windows to it. |

Re: HP C4180 On Network
Hi again,
I have tryed them both its still will not print. I have located the printer on the network. File and printer sharing is enabled on Vista and i have add'd it but it just will not print. I tryed to add it again and it came up i need to install the driver so i click on install driver and then it comes up with an error messege which is "Windows cannot connect to the printer. The specified print monitor is unknown". The Vista pc is on the same work group as the pc with the printer is installed on MSHOME and its the only work group that i have on the network. I ping'd the pc ip and it work'd all 4 times. I can access the pc's files but i just can print from the vista pc. PLEASE HELP IM GOING MAD ( I have the Sleghammer on stand by). ![]() Jay.

Re: HP C4180 On Network
Did you attempt to install the Vista drivers on the Vista machine while it was off the network and the printer unplugged at the start of the operation ?

Re: HP C4180 On Network
What you posted is the install instructions i know how to do that, but I want to keep the printer on the XP computer and run it through the network.
