HP Deskjet 5740 not printing lines/tables/borders etc
Hi, I've got a HP Deskjet 5740 printer which I'm using with my Dell desktop running Vista Home Premium. When I try to print from OpenOffice Writer, the documents are missing any lines, tables or borders that should be there. I've tried everything I can think of, playing around with all the printer options I can find. HP website says the drivers are included in Vista and don't seem to have any others to download. I'm not absolutely certain but I think that when I first got Vista the documents used to print OK, but have recently stopped.
If I transfer the document to my laptop running XP and print the document directly from there the lines all print out. However if I print wirelessly from the laptop (i.e. through the desktop running Vista) then the lines disappear again! Can anyone suggest a way to fix this? |

Re: HP Deskjet 5740 not printing lines/tables/borders etc
It's probably the driver that Vista is providing for your printer.
It is what is called a "basic driver" and often some functionality is lost with these. Your XP printer driver is likely a more specific driver to your printer model. If I had to have it all working now, I would invest in a new printer with full Vista support. Make sure that the seller understands your "environment" and will cheerfully provide a refund if it doesn't work. If I had the time, it's possible that a workaround could be found or a patch may be written. This would require some luck. |
