Epson 830 Drivers

Hi

I'd formatted my pc over the weekend. I went to install my printer this morning. What usually would happen, is as soon as I switch my printer on it would automatically search for drivers and install. Thats wasn't the case this morning. As soon as I switched the printer on my pc recongised new hardware, then I get the window asking to either search for drivers or if I have the disk and if so put it in the drive. On doing that that, I got a message saying my printer couldn't be installed, the drivers were not found in the NFT folder. Anybody have any ideas? As I said Vista usually just finds the drivers and installs. Any advice is much appreciated.

Thx

Hi Barry, You still would need to driver to install the printer, Windows Vista cant find everything. Install it and do the Windows Vista Updates.

Re: Epson 830 Drivers

Hi jaymie

I don't understand why I would need to install the driver this time. On all other occassions when I'd formatted my pc, Vista would find the drivers automatically without having to insert the Epson drivers disk. Thats what's confusing me this time round. Anyway the drivers I have on disk are for XP and earlier versions. I've been on Epson's website and they don't have drivers for Vista as it comes with the operating system. Any other ideas?

Thx

Re: Epson 830 Drivers

Hi

Yeah I've tried the XP drivers disk and thats when I get the mesage that the drivers can't be found at NFT. Everytime I format my pc with Vista, I get a different result. It seems to fix one problem but gives me another. Maybe I should have waited about 12 months til Vista becomes more stable lol.

Well if you contect Epson they should be able to give you more idea on when the new driver will be avalable. If you had Vista Home Premium It might work.

I can't decipher whether you just (a) let Vista "look" for the printer driver or did you (b) tell Vista to look at the Vista DVD in your optical drive for the driver.

Try (b) if you haven't already, power-cycle the printer beforehand and be logged on as Administrator.

Re: Epson 830 Drivers

Hi

On previous occassion, I'd plug in the printer USB lead and switch the printer on. Vista would automatically detect the printer and install the drivers. As it says on the Epson website, drivers are within Vista. Hence thats why they haven't created a driver for Vista.

Thx
