Kyocera FX820 Help
My Kyocera FS820 laser printer was working fine until a power surge happened the other day, and now my computer won't recognise the printer, even though the printer is on and the connected to the PC via USB. Ive checked the USB ports on my PC by switching them around, and this only seems to happen to the kyocera, however when i switch it, i get a USB port error. Can someone please help me find out what problem is causing this. Thanks in advance.

Yes, I'm also inclined to think the problem is the printer and not the computer. Can you test the printer on another machine? That would pretty much give you the answer.

The USB ports work with other devices, just not both my printers now ( Epson Stylus C60) I haven't been able to try it out on another machine yet, but i doubt it woud work. Thanks

Hi,
Because of that power surge, your power cord from the printer, or the USB cable could be 'toast'. Try another power socket to the printer, and if that is not successful, try another USB cable from the printer to the computer.

Hmmm, Interesting
![]() Try this... Right click on the "My Computer" desktop Icon > Properties > Hardware > Device Manager > View > Show Hidden Devices. Now we need to know if there are any Red X's, or Yellow Exclamation Marks ! listed anywhere in the list. Post back with the results please telling us if there are or are not any listed.

Quote:
Right click on the 'faulty' USB Controller > Properties > Driver > Update Driver. Now let Windows® update/reinstall the Driver; once its done this, reboot the computer and try the printer again. If this is not successful; then, you will need to go back into Device Manager and check to see if the Exclamation Mark is still present...if it is this time repeat the procedure above, but this time 'uninstall' the device and reboot the computer and let Windows® 'reinstall it on boot up. While you are doing this, I would suggest physically removing the printer from its USB connection to the computer. Once the USB Controller is 'repaired/reinstalled' reconnect the printer and see what happens. Let us know the outcome.

As my collegues here have suggested, the problem is probably with your printer.
Perhaps it got 'fried' with the power surge..I'd suggest that you contact the manufacturer directly. Having said that, try uninstalling and reinstalling the printer first.
