Re: ASUS P5N32E-SLI & Q6700 - help needed !
Newer Quad core boards that support higher wattage quads will require a 8 pin, for overclocking it's a good idea to have it. Floppy drives are disappearing quickly in favor of thumb drives, there are a few USB floppy drives around.

Re: ASUS P5N32E-SLI & Q6700 - help needed !
most all boards I have seen still have the floppy IDE connector on the motherboard even the newest P55 & X58 boards still have the FDD connector
your power supply is capable of using the eight pin adapter for quad core cpu power / if you dont have one, give me a holler and I can send you a thermaltake toughpower eight pin adapter I have several of them hanging around dual core can get buy with 4 pin / quad cores usually need eight pin your modular PSU should have had a plug to convert to eight pin?

Re: ASUS P5N32E-SLI & Q6700 - help needed !
I checked - I dont have a 8 pin CPU supply on my PSU, but surprisingly I've also discovered that my board does have a 8 pin CPU power socket. I'm simply not using the balance four and I'm running the Q6700 on it. I thought you mentioned that the quads needed the 8 pin???
Another thing - I have a EVGA NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT video card ... a single card which I'm not running in SLI mode, since I'm not a gamer. Will this card work with the P45 chipset? I've read that Intel and NVIDIA dont really see eye-to-eye on this issue? |

Single Nvidia cards run well on Intel chipsets.
What Power Supply do you have? Some have a 4+4 connector that splits apart into 2 4 pins. |

Re: ASUS P5N32E-SLI & Q6700 - help needed !
I would use the eight pin in the cpu socket / I strongly advise you review your motherboard manual
yes; your video card will work with the P45 motherboard GUARANTEED

Re: ASUS P5N32E-SLI & Q6700 - help needed !
Well folks, my old Asus P5N finally died on me, when I gave it a tweak too many ... basically it lost the BIOS. I've got myself a Gigabyte EP45-UD3P - i'd read a few good reviews of this board. So far, I've put everything together on this mobo and things seem fairly peachy! Now ... keeping my fingers crossed. Will reach out to you guys again, I'm sure I'm going to need some help!
