RAM questions
![]() 1) How do I know if certain sticks of RAM are compatible with my computer? 2) It says my maximum is 1 GB. That's what I've got. Does that mean I can't possibly have any more? Or that's the most that can be pulled from what I have? Last edited by leroy_yorel; 03-28-2006 at 07:26 PM. |

1. If you are uncertian on what types of memory to buy, Your best bet would be to purchase memory from a company that will guaranty 100% compatibility. Such as Crucial, MemoryX or the webste you have posted.
2. That would be iffy because I just went to the Crucial website and it shows 2GB maximum memory for your particular machine. |

Compaq says that your machine can only have 1GB although the motherboard spec sounds like it will accept 2GB. That motherboard chipset can accept 2GB in two sockets but Compaq may have limited it to 1GB for some reason. Unless you can borrow a couple of 1GB memory sticks to test your machine, I wouldn't try going above 1GB.
