Problems returning from screen saver back to desktop

When I leave the computer and it goes to a screen saver and then I return the computer seems to stall or freeze when it tries to return back to the desktop. Sometimes it does return but the bottom taskbar is still black and the computer is still frozen. I always have to restart it just to use the computer again. Any suggestions?

go into your power options and disable hybernation and any other power saving options. choose "never" to everything.. hard disk,ect.
