E-ZI Phonebox: USB Audio device doesn't install

Hi

My first post in a forum, hope that I don't do anything wrong. I bought an E-ZI Phonebox (by Waitec: www.waitec.com) to allow me to use my normal phone with Skype. Following the installation instructions upon connecting the phonebox Windows (XP) automatically installed 3 or 4 USB devices that it found in the Phonebox. However when I try to use my phone (using Skypelink from Waitec) I can call but the sound comes out my pc speakers (and no-one can hear me). Under devices I have found that there is a USB Audio device that is listed as not working (error message: This device is not configured correctly. (Code 1)). Windows suggests that I reinstall the driver but the manual says that no drivers are required for this device. I asked Waitec but no reply.

Sorry if I was too verbose

Thanks for reading this

cheers
Bryan

Hi

Thanks for replying. Perhaps I didn't understand. Check where for updated software? I have the latest Skypelink software from their site (2.0.0.62). Or was there a pun on the TSF donation...?

thanks
Bryan

No. The link did not show up. Any way sounds like you have the latest driver.

Are other usb devices working ok on your computer?

Yes - my ADSL modem is USB and I use a USB key for data transfer (and my digital camera connects no problem) so from the pc side it seems OK....

thanks

Maybe someone else here has used this type of device. Sounds like a driver issue.

Grin

Hi

Just in case anyone else has this problem I managed to solve the problem

Trawling the web I discovered that this box is cloned and sold by many other names: telbox, rapidbox etc. and I finally found the solution in German! (see http://www.ip-phone-forum.de/showthread.php?t=70478)

Basically it seems that the box needs the device driver wdma_usb.inf to exist (on my machine in this case in windows\inf). I just copied the existing usb.inf to wdma_usb.inf and it works perfectly.

thanks to everyone whose input helped

cheers
Bryan
