PSU warranty advice
I recently replaced my old power supply with an EnerMax 420 Watt. When installing it recommended connecting a specially marked power connector to my video card ( a Radeon 9800 PRO ). However, none of the power connectors were specially marked, so with 2 power connectors remaining I randomly decided to hook one of them to my CDROM and one to my video card. This was two or three weeks ago.
Two days ago the fan on my video card gave out. When I looked at it, one of the power connector pins on the video card is burnt completely black. I replaced the fan on the video card, and just for kicks decided to switch the power connectors between the CDROM and video card, so now the connector that was on the video card originally is on the CDROM and vice versa. The good news is that my video card seems to be functioning perfectly. The bad news is that my CDROM won't read CDs and shows up in "My Computer" as a floppy drive (I do not have a floppy drive connected). Is this a PSU issue, and would it be covered under warranty? |

My old 9800SE used a mini 4-pin connector and wouldn't boot without it. My room mate's 9700 won't boot without it either.
