Grin Multiple DVD & CD Burners not burning

Hey Folks

My brother built me a computer 6 months ago - for the last 2 months the computer has been beeping at increasingly regular intervals (now constantly)and now will also not burn any cd's / dvds. He blamed the dvd burner - so i got another one and put it in - and it also doesnt burn anything. Its driving me nuts - and he has no clue as to what it may be. Any suggetsions gratefully recieved.

When does this beeping happen? In the OS or just when booting?

when running the computer. We have tried to figure out any causes - it does seem to happen most often when some type of media is playing, games, music or burning a dvd/cd.

Sounds like a possible thermal issue. Many PCs will beep madly if the temperature gets too high.

any suggestions for the dvd / cd not burning? it isnt a faulty burner, and it isnt the media we are using because both have been changed multiple times.

What software are you using? Some software may require patches or updates in order to work with newer hardware. You may also want to try running it by itself on the drive cable.

i am using the latest nero, but have tried a bunch of others like media player and real player, as well as some freeware dvd burning program. I will try running it on the drive cable tonight.
