Start up problems
Hi Everyone - this is my first post on this site so a big hello to you all.
I'm not very technical and trying my best, so bear with me. I have a Dell Optiplex GX 150 that's having problems when I turn it on. All I'm getting is a flashing on button and an audible sound of something clicking inside. I thought the hard drive was on its way out and got another but this doesn't seem to be the problem. The sounds coming from the floppy drive and stops when I disconnect its power cable. Sometimes, after being left for a while the computer will eventually boot up, but not on other occasions. I know this information is rather vague but I would be grateful for any help please? Regards, Tangent: |

The flashing power light should be saying it is in low power(sleep) mode. Try holding the power button for 10-15 seconds. Does it go off? Also unplug it for a couple of minutes, then plug it back in. Does it power up? Check the diag leds on the back. Are they all (4) lit? Are they green?
