RAM Question

This has always bother me and I think it's finally to just get it over with.

Anyways, on one of my desktop I have 512MB of RAM but when I right click my computer it only shows 504?

Does anyone know the concept behind this? Is this just some hardware problem or is it part of how Windows work? I use Windows XP Home Edition SP2 by the way.

If you use a onboard video card the missing memory is be used by it. You can change the amount of memory used by the onboard video card in Cmos.

I don't think I have a onboard video. The video card i'm using right now is a PCI-E.

Go into your bios and make sure onboard video is disabled.

You may also want to run Memtest http://www.memtest86.com/
