HP Lightscribe problems...even have HP confused with this one

I recently purchased a new HP with lightscribe and was able to burn and label the HP disc given to me with the computer (XP media edition). I then purchased Verbatim CD-R (lightscribe) but I came up with the error message "cannot read disc as a lightscribe CD". I am using Sonic express labeler. I was told by HP that verbatim is not a good disc. I then purchased Memorex. My computer spit it out with the same error message. I called HP again and they told me that HP lightscribe is kind of "touchy". It only likes HP discs. I then called Best Buy where I purchased it. They told me that many customers use other lightscribe CD's with no problems. It must be my computer. I then called another Best Buy and they told me that, yes, HP lightscribe is touchy. Then, when I talked with another employee, they said they have never had problems with other discs. I had HP run through the different ways to solve this problem but they are at their wits end. Now I am wondering where to go next. Should I take it in (still under warranty but I have alot of stuff installed on my computer) and get my computer fixed, or just purchase some HP CD's and deal with the fact that it is a "touchy" system? Thanks

My System

for what it's worth, i ended up with an hp lightscribe capable burner, and i bought the actual hp lightscribe cd's, (it was the only "lightscribe" brand i could find) and no matter what software i installed, or how many readme's i read, there was nothing i could ever do to make lightscribe work.

to me, the entire concept of lightscribe just seems like a broken peice of garbage.
