SFF PCI Brackets for CycloneBlowers?
Hello, I recently upgraded to a PCI video card from onboard video and I would like my PC temps to be a little cooler, my board temp is up to around 47C at load, thats just a little too warm for my liking. I have a SFF Case, with the only fans being those on the PSU.
So, my question. I would like to know if there are any cycloneblower-esque PCI slot fans that have SFF Brackets? Seen here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Showim...igabit+Adapter Any Ideas?

I haven't seen any fans that fit a SFF PCI slot. I didn't even know they were of different sizes.
I would think that whatever you gain in cooling would also increase noise in most cases. What is your case brand and model number. maybe we could suggest a workaround or something

Is this a back view of your case?
When I said 'case brand and model number' I was looking for a picture of your case to see if it is possible to modify it in any way. Your 'sandra readout did give me a link to gateway where I think I found your case.

no, but the picture below is.
I've run into the same problem, Gateway seems to confuse my serial number with another case...maybe because we bought it with our Peoplepc account.

@ GarnetCompy
Well you've got some vents back there. Do you have mounts for a front fan? If so, installing one could help create positive case pressure and force the heat out the back vents. Maybe even remove a PCI backplate or two.

well, It doesn't look like I have a fan mount, per se, but there is a small space below the HDD I could probably add a mount to maybe?

I am not exactly sure what you front inside case looks like, but as long as there is metal there, you can poke/drill four holes for a fan mount. Your plastic case front bezel should also have some airholes to feed the front fan, drill if needed. Looks like this thing is snowballing to a big mod-job! Another possibility if there are a few PCI slots open, you could remove several slats and mount a fan there. Blowing out would probably be best. Once again, if you can open some vents in or near the front for intake, that would aid in airflow and cooling. Sometimes front bezels will have an opening at their bottom facing down. sometimes you can enlarge that and cut out or enlarge any openings in the metal framework of the case front to aid in airflow.

Well, I think my problem might actually be my PSU-I opened up the case after heavy use and the PSU was too hot to touch. I might be in order for a new PSU...I sure hope that I'm running a MicroATX Psu-I'm running a MicroATX Motherboard, is this any indication?

has the fan died inside the PSU? Can you hear it run? From what you have been saying, it sounds like the PSU fan is the only fan in the system, is there a CPU fan? If you are not seeing any PSU related problems like crashes, then it may be ok, just need a new fan
It does not look like an ATX standard size or shape PSU so I would guess its a Micro-ATX...is that easier for you to obtain? is this your case? Looks like it has a proprietary PSU with a funky angles fan. You might have to get it thru Gateway.

Yea, that is my case...There's nothing wrong with either fan, CPU or PSU, I just didn't like how the PSU(160Watts) was getting so hot after only around 3 hours of regular use.
Anyways, its not too much of a problem, i'll be getting a replacement computer in around 3 months(self-build), so this thing really doesn't need to last much longer.

Resolved...for now.
I took a desk fan and put it behind my case with all the PCI Brackets removed.
My temps are now ~45C at load and a icy 28C idle. Alright! My only real problem with this is dust coming into the case...any nonrestrictive, homemade filter ideas? If not I can just take canned air and clean it out every month. Oh, and by the way, my 2.5V rail is at 1.47V according to speedfan. Is that really bad? I don't know of any modern computer parts that used 2.5V.

A-HA!
I found the problem: the PSU Fan will not spin. I've had this problem ever since we moved in to our new house 2.5 years ago. Its not temp controlled either, the fan wasnt spinning even when I got my 'remote temp' (thats what speedfan calls it, my northbridge maybe?) up to 60C.Then the comp turned off like i have it set to do. The fan's size is (roughly) 92mm, but the mount is screwed into the wrong side(i have the pointed side of the screw outside the PSU). Any workaround? I suppose fans are cheap, and it wouldn't hurt to try.
