Sometimes it gives video sometimes not
I have a PC I put together from used parts. It works great, except sometimes it powers up and doesn't give video, and sometimes it does. When it doesn't, it almost always does on the next try. I checked all the cables and changed the button battery for whatever that was worth (with another old battery, but actually they both seemed to be working ok). I happened to switch hard drives, too, but that made no difference, nor did changing the video card.

update
the new psu was working fine, always booted up completely. Then the computer just turned off and wouldn't turn back on. I put in another psu (used) and it was back to the old routine of posting on the second switch-on. Do you think it could be a defective switch? I'm getting ready to switch out to another case.

you can check the case switch by touching the two pins on the m/b,with a paper clip or something similar that the two wires from the switch connect to

Hi
I assume that turns it on and keeps it on? Anyway, I sidled another case alongside and hooked up its switch to the jumpers and it's been working fine for the last few days. So, I'll be moving the entire innards over to that case, which is a much nicer case anyway, and this is a good excuse to do that. If I have time I will check out that first switch, see if its dirty or something |
