Keyboard Problem

Hey, I'm new here and in need of immediate help! My keyboard works during startup, and I login with it, but once I login, it completely stops functioning! None of the keys work, no Ctrl+Alt+Del, not even the Num Lock, etc. Nothing! I've tried a new keyboard, same result! Please help!!

Good morning Rob,
What kind of keyboard do you have?
Have you tried safe mode?

tap f8 on start .. choose safe mode on menu...but you need the keyboard to navigate.
try switching ps2 ports with the mouse

once your in windows, go in your device manager and check for any yellow conflict marks.

When the computer starts you tap-tap-tap the F8 key and a menu comes up, then you select Safe mode.

Also try logging in as administrator and see if the keyboard works then.

What I meant, is the keyboard PS2 or USB connector, or wireless.
a little round connector beside the mouse connector is PS2.

Now the keyboard responds when I type, it beeps (set up for handicap people), but still no typing. It locks up or freezes once I login. It's on USB. As soon as I login, the NUM Lock wont turn on and off, indicating to me that it has frozen...

if you can get to safe mode, check your device manager and also
scan your computer for infections.

Use the mouse to go to Control Panel, System, Hardware, Device Manager and see if there are any yellow warnings.

Also click the Keyboard icon to see what Device status is.

Use the mouse to go to Programs, Accessories, Accessability, and select On screen keyboard.

Then goto Run and use the virtual keyboard to type sfc /scannow then click enter.

You will probably be asked to insert your Windows CD so have it ready.

--------------------------------

Did you try the keyboard on a different USB port?
Are you using a USB to PS2 adapter?
