probably an embarrassingly easy answer to question, but here goes anyway!

Hi,

I posted a while ago about problems with monitor, and had really helpful replies, so I wondered if it was okay to post in this section, about tv problem. Can't find a forum about tv's, or any answers online, so am riding on the tenuous link that I can't play my PS2 if am having TV problems ... or I was, until I realised I CAN still play PS2 and watch videos, just nothing else. So, although I realise that this isn't the forum for asking the following question, would some kind soul put me out of my misery!?

I realise that the really bad weather today has probably damaged the aerial, as I have no tv channels at all, but I've not had this happen before, and am puzzled as I'm not linked to the main aerial, but use indoor aerials. Also, I can get all channels on handheld tv, but not on two tv's in the house ... ?! Probably sound a real dumb ***; swallowing my pride here! Could it be that e.g. a mobile phone thing erected nearby, or someone getting other things installed, or simply storm damage, or the thing's just worn out and keeled over, a really heavy bird, or what!? Why can I get tv fine on mini tv, but just snow on every channel for the large tvs? If both tv's had been damaged, the computer would have gone the journey too, and it's fine, thankfully.

Am just being impatient, as am going to have to ask neighbour tomorrow if they're having same problems. I can't physically get up on the roof myself, and don't know how I'd know if it was damaged, or if I need to go ahead and organise repair and ask for halfies for costs first, if both homes affected that is. No idea about costs, so, if it is that it needs repairing, would it be around the same price to update the aerial so can use freeview etc? I got a box a while ago, but reception dreadful, a couple of snippets of stations and nothing else.

Thanks, Cat

no such thing s a dumb question unless your asking jusut to consume and you don't realy want an answer but that doesn't seem to be the case here. I suggest you get some ten dollar rabit ears from radio shack, it's the same thing your portable is using. But I warn you, you'll probably have to mess with them to get in certain channels.

and I'm glad to see another person who hasn't sold out to big cable or satelite.

Have you seen that chef show on Fox? it's halarious isn't it?

Yes, I'm missin' my humble telly .. even channel 5! By rabbit ears you mean little portable aerial? I'm using those, and am just really puzzled as to why the roof aerial would stop reception when am using the small aerials and not linked into roof aerial. On mini tv, I can only get 3 channels, and at a different bandwidth than it normally finds them on, if that makes sense.
-edit
Just heard about awful floods in Yorkshire. Guy at the shop was also saying the tv mast there'll be down, as I'd started by asking if him not getting any tv channels ... not that that's important compared to people dealing with flooded homes; crossing fingers there's no more rain due.
-edit
Anyone know if the mast is down? Can't find anything online at all that says if it is etc.

Why? I could only post what I knew at the time, or what I needed to ask at the time. When I get psychic enough to be able to include future unknown posts in the one post, I'll let ya know!

Telly's back now anyways. Off to watch it! Cheers, Cat
