Things gone terribly wrong
Until recently my computer was running pretty much void of problems, but it is really shocking how quickly that can change. It started turning off during hich cpu and video useage- ie: World of Warcraft. I downloaded a program with which i could monitor my CPU heat and the internal heat of the rig. CPU (at that time a 1400+xp ath.) seemed to be running about 113 F under high use- up to 119, the box maxed out at 92 F (3 fan mid tower raidmax). I tried to play the game again later, and sometimes it would poop out after a few minutes, sometimes after an hour. eventually it got really bad, the system would turn off under virtually no usage, just while idle, also at the same low temperatures. I talked to a friend and he said that my CUP must have been fried, so, i went out and bought the 3000+xp 333fsb 512L2 cache. It turned on fine, but my motherboard wouldnt recognize it in the bios, and now its gotten to the point where my computer wont start all the time.
- so... the help i need: is there a part that is probably overheating or shot (motherboard or graphics card maybe?) is this a software issue? bios settings? ![]() Abit motherboard w/ award bios Saphire 128 radeon 9600 pro 512 kingston DDR pc 3200 Athlon 3000+ xp Last edited by sanz; 06-18-2005 at 09:53 AM. |

You shutdowns could be caused by a number of things but I would guess power supply or motherboard problems before guessing CPU. Could you include the exact model number of your motherboard and what kind of power supply you have?
