Power Supply Unit problems

Hi guys,

My 300watt atx psu died a few days ago. I managed to borrow a replacment psu for a while and everything works fine now. The only thing is that this psu is only 250w. I do a hell of a lot of gaming and I have a very powerfull graphics card which needs to draw power from the psu. My question is will 250w be enough to keep me going till i can get a new more powerful power supply or is there a chance of this supply dieing too?

What graphic card do you have and what are the amps on the 12V line of the PSU?

The card is an ATI Radeon 9800XT 256mb card. I'm not sure of the voltage on the psu because I don't have it with me at the minute.

ATI says the 9800XT require a 300 WATT PSU. It hard to say if your 250WATT PSU will hold out. IF it a really good 250Watt psu it might be enough. If I was you I would consider investing in a new PSU.
