pc freezes while loading files during setup winxp
hey,
i got a pentium 4 2A GHz and 1GB SD RAM on my pc. the system started to restart itself while booting up. then it gave me an error that a file system was corrupted. so, now im trying to reintsall and the system freezes while loading files in the setup. i need help ASAP. Well if you've already swapped in different RAM, CPUs, and hard disks, then you're pretty much down to things like a bad motherboard, a power supply problem, or something mechanical like a bad data or power cable. Since you can't boot Windows you're going to have a hard time figuring it out. You could try tearing the machine down to just the motherboard, one stick of RAM, a video card, and a hard disk and run MemTest86 and a low-level hard disk checker downloaded from the manufacturer of the hard disk. Those are about the only things you can check without Windows. If your motherboard supports it you could also check the voltages from the BIOS. But if the motherboard has gone bad, then you're pretty much are down to a process of elimination by swapping parts. I'd swap in another power supply if you have one.
