Before I start any of this, I will say that this is all MY FAULT. My computer worked fine before, but then I messed around with a variety of things, like an idiot....Anyways, I have a Logitech Optical Mouse that has the option of either running with a USB port OR it comes with an adapter so that it may also run off of the normal mouse slot. (PS/2, I believe.) But, my computer wont recognize that my mouse, with the adapter on, is plugged in. For that matter, no PS/2 mouse works..... Thankfully, the USB slot does work fine.
Another minor issue I sometimes have is with my keyboard. It will stop working until I reboot the computer. I HAVE installed a BIOS update...and it is securely connected...Again, this doesn't happen all the time. I have also used Ad-Aware for a spyware search, and there is none. I have recently error-checked my computer and that may have fixed it. I also defraged, which seems to have helped.... My main concern is the mouse issue, so if that can be solved....hopefully the keyboard thing just takes care of its self.... Thanks for reading.
