Missing Info on Floppy Disk

Hello All:

On Friday, 5/20, I spent 2 hours in our firm's storage area indexing boxes. I saved the information onto the company laptop with the use of a floppy disk. When I went back to my desk to load the information on the floppy onto the server, the information was gone. I can't find it on the disk or on the laptop harddrive. Any suggestions on where else I can look? I've also scanned the disk with Norton AV to make sure there wasn't anything wrong.

The Start Menu/Recent Documents shows the title of the file, but can't find the actual file with all the information I spent 2 hours typing in.

HELP!

Thanks.

That's another reason I don't use floppy disks anymore. Anyway, did you remove the diskette while the light was still on? That is murderous to the data. Does the file not read in whatever you used to type it up? Can you see anything in My Computer?

Cry

Can't tell you honestly if the green light was still on. At this point of searching, and not finding anything, it probably was.

It doesn't come up in WordPerfect (which is the program I used), Word or Windows Explorer/My Computer/A:. It shows on the Start Menu under My Recent Documents, but then can't find the file even with the floppy in.

Looks like it's another 2 hours in the storage room to re-index the 9 boxes I did last week.

Do a search on the laptop for any files created at the time you saved to floppy. Maybe WordPerfect created a backup file (.bk) like MS Office does.

Next time save it to the hard drive, then when you are done, copy the file to the floopy. That way you have a backup.
