question for AIM users
OK,someone I know lives far away from here and I only talk to them over AIM. that I hardly see them on,they just happened to be on AIM but had their away message on. I just decided to leave them a message and later on ( while they were still idle,so I know they didn't get off on their own) their screenname signed off and didn't get back on. i'm curious, though their disconnected from AIM would my Instant message still be on their screen for them to see?

I don't think AIM supports offline messages....could be mistaken though.

Depends on a few things. Did they completely close AIM? Are they just logged off? Are they using the AIM client or something else? AIM will not log messages like MSN, ICQ, and YIM do.

Aim don’t log messages if you try and send someone one when they are offline it will say User whateverhisnameis is not available. If you can’t talk to him he’s either not online or has connection problems or maybe you do. Or your aims messed up or his is. |

ebackhus,
not trying to sound confusing here....well that they were kicked off,so i'm just assuming it's to the part where the log on screen comes up where you try to sign on again. when I sent this message they weren't offline, they were online and just had their away message on,meaning if I sent a message they'd still get it but my question say someone is kicked off where their disconnected/but not totally out of the program like if you were to right click on the icon then exit, nothing like that... from AIM would the message still be on their computer screen? |

Not confusing at all. Well, it's been years since I've used AIM's client but I think it closed windows if it was disconnected. If not then obviously the window(s) would remain on-screen.

My daughter uses AIM.
Well i just gave this a try from one PC to the next - when one was up w/ away message and i sent a message to it - then unplugged the network card so the connection was interupted the program disconnected and closed the away message window and went to the login screen. So i have to conclude the message you sent was lost - unless that user had something set up differently or used a different version.
