ram stick sizes

one of my friends said that it is not good to have different size sticks of ram in your pc... ex. one 512 MB and one 1 GB...

i just would like to know if this is true...

I don't think it matters very much, especially if you didn't plan to run in dual channel (which does require identical sticks).

I agree with Fox. This would only be an issue with dual channel setups.

Also, they will all run at the speed of the slowest stick. So if you pair PC 3200 and PC 1600 you'll have them ALL at PC 1600 speeds.
