Use the run option in the Start menu and type in msconfig. Once you have that going click the Startup tab in the upper right corner. Look for that entry and clear the check box next to it.

Basically, you have a startup program which probably has a misformatted parameter. According to our friend the Internet:
Quote:
Logitech Desktop Messenger (LDM) is a free service designed to deliver software support, news and information you can use. It ensures that you have simple, speedy, and effortless access to product upgrades, technology tips, and technology news and offers that are relevant to you. It delivers information right to your desktop, allowing you to take advantage of all of the advanced features of the Logitech products you own, while staying abreast of new computer-related product and service developments (Logitech and otherwise) that are applicable to your life.
I don't know about you, but to me that sounds like some useless program I don't need clogging up my system. If you uncheck the box in MSConfig then it won't be loaded at startup anymore and your problem will disappear. Unless you have some strong reason to run this program, the simplest solution is to uncheck the box and get rid of it. If you feel the need to run it, you will probably have to uninstall and reinstall whatever Logitech gizmo installed it in the first place and hope that this time it sets it up properly.

Yea. Unchecking the box means it won't run on startup anymore. I just installed Windows XP today and my Logitech mouse tried to install the Logitech Desktop Messenger. In fact, I had to say no twice to keep it from being installed. You definitely don't need it (unless you enjoy pointless problems).
