This is probably a stupid question...
I'm really weird, the smallest things tend to really annoy me and anyway, i have a bunch of games downloaded.
Its set where it shows the firefox icon on them instead of whatever generic icon was originally there. I was wondering if theres anyway that i can give them the generic icon again. Stupid question?... |

Did you download the itanium version? This is the direct link for the Win32 version, it should work on XP SP1

Unless you, or someone else has been messing with your sys settings the icons should not have changed on their own. Downloading? If you mean you pirated the games then you can not discuss such things on these forums according to the rules. Yet, if that is the case, I'm taking a wild guess here, but you are infected with something. I suggest you scan your system with anything and everything you can reach. Look in the general security forum and read my post called suggested sticky.

Ohh no, its no virus, i changed it because i was opening a certain game with firefox. Its just that all the others are like that now. As far as this being about piracy, you're drawing your own conclusions. I personally said nothing. I would never get involved with something so shady. Who do i look like to you?... Also, thanks for the help 101. |

:P
I never said you did, I said IF that was the case. Meaning if you did then you should have taken those following steps. I've seen many cases where a bad infection for some reason changed the settings of a sys and made things look different. Yeah, if that ever happens, take care of it fast. A person I knew back in HS told me one day they had that happen to them and a week later they told me their comp wouldn't boot anymore. So, even if you don't dl games or other warez you should still get those progs I mentioned. |

And calvin, that option is there.. maybe the XP version of tweak ui is different but it's there. Another thing you can try is clearing the icon cache but first try to find the 'rebuild icon' option in tweak ui. |

lol
if you want to try clearing the icon cache, first make sure that Windows is displaying hidden files [control panel>folder options>view] and go to c:\documents and settings\yourUser\local settings\application data There you should see a file called 'iconcache.db', delete it and restart Windows. |

I hate to sound really stupid, but how do i get there. I tried typing that in the address bar but it doesn't work, and i also checked in my documents, can't find it either.
...so could you try to dumb this down to the nth value. |

...actually i just found it and deleted it, but afterward, it said that it couldn't be found.
When i go back and check though, it appears as if it was deleted. BTW Deleting this can't harm my computer in anyway can it?... |
