Creative woofer problem

Hello I have a weird problem with my creative T5900 speakers. The thing is that the speakers are 4 - 5 months old and the woofer started making a strange noise. It sounds like there is a broken plastic inside the woofer case and when u pump up the bass levels u cant stand the noise. A friend of mine told me that creative's new speaker systems all have problem with their woofer (not this problem several other) and at the end the woofer stops once and for all. Is this true people, does creative really has a problem with their woofers? If anyone knows anything about the problem that i m facing with my woofer, i would be thankful for all kind of opinions.

Do not know about anything specific to this speaker system.

It appears this system has a seperate sub woofer. It is possible something has come loose inside the speaker or the actual speaker itself is bad. I would pick the speaker up then shake it and roll it around and listen if you hear anything loose inside it. You should not hear anything rolling around or rattling. If you do, something vibrated loose inside the box.

If the speaker is quite, no noise or rattle, then the problem is probably with the woofer driver itself, possibly a broken voice coil. This means the woofer would need to be replaced.

Not sure what warranty there is, if any? If there is no warranty and you hear something loose inside, you might attempt to disassemble and inspect it. Not sure how it would come apart, but most speakers come apart by removing the speaker grille, then the speaker itself, usually 6-10 screws. If the voice coil is bad, you can usually determine this by gently pushing near the center of the speaker (with the grille removed) and you will hear/feel a scuffing or scratching noise. Be careful not to puncture the speaker with your fingers or push if more than 1/2" (13 mm).
