annoying monitor/screen problem

ok so i have this problem with my monitor not being able to fill out my whole screen in any resolution... i have a DELL 19' monitor and i do not have any drivers for it and cant seem to find any on the net (if that even matters)

however, when fooling around with resolutions and refresh rates one day i was able to get the screen to fill out perfectly at 1024x768 at 85hertz... but then just recently i decided to try 1280x1024 and then when i changed it, it didn’t fill out the whole screen, so i decided to fool around again with the refresh rates and still none of them were able to fill the screen out... so i went to change it back to 1024x768 and now i cant get this resolution to fill out my whole screen like it did before... all the settings are exactly the same as when i had it before when it filled out the screen, but for some reason now its not filling out the screen... there is still a noticeable black border around my screen... i cant get any resolution to fill out my screen on any refresh rate right now and its really annoying... i mean i can go into my monitor settings and stretch it but i can never get it perfect, and if there is even a slight offness of anything it really BUGS me... (i know, such a small thing, but it really bugs me)

i talked to some other people about this problem and none of them know... they all say any resolution they switch to it automatically sizes there screen on there monitor to fill it out all around... some people said DELL monitors are really crappy and that’s probably why... but whatever... i had it before filling out the whole screen at 1024x768 resolution, so i know its capable of doing it... but i just cant get it back now to do it... and that’s with any resolution and any refresh rate

if someone could help me fix this stupid little problem, it would be greatly appreciated

My System

Is there a button to reset to original factory settings?

I know what you mean about small things bugging you. I spend more time straightening up toolbars and aligning text than I do actually working! It's the geek curse.

You can get Dell monitor drivers from http://www.monitor-drivers.com/companies/294.htm
