Question about ram sdr-sdram pc133 vs. sdram pc133

My Uncle asked me to format and reinstall his OS cause it was blue screening, lagging constantly even after adding an extra 256 megs of ram. He is running windows98se on a 600mhz mobo. I did as he asked only to find the problem is just as bad as b4 the complete format and clean install, updated component drivers etc....boot up time takes 4ever.
I have an old AMD 500mhz comp with only 192megs ram that boots 2x faster than his. Anyway after talking to him about how the format didn't seem to do much for the prob. he let me know the problem had gotten worse specifically after adding the newer ram. So I ran memtest etc. ram was good, I opened the case to to pop out ram for individual stick testing only to find one labled " sdram pc133" the other "sdr-sdram pc133". I think that the problem is maybe these 2 types of ram don't like each other on this board? My question basically is are these 2 sticks the same, the store owner who sold them to Uncle says there is no difference and that they are compatible on any board, as he rolls his eyes and mutters "women". Thanks all for any insight on this subject.

Could one be DDR SDRAM?

Here is a link:

If memtest doesnt find any errors then i'd run another program like the MS memory diagnostics - as theres a small chance one program finds something another doesnt. If that test comes out good aswell i really dont see a problem with the memory.
I cant say for sure where all the blue screens come from - however the slow bootime could mean that the harddrive is running in PIO mode not UDMA.

Try this and see if it helps:

Definately says sdr-sdram on chip

... if it was ddr sdram it wouldn't fit in the slot...notches are in different places. Thanks for the suggestion that I check it though. Sarkast, I will check to see if DMA is enabled as I know the hard drive supports UDMA mode...it's my old 30gig backup drive
Will post and let you know, thanks for the feedback.

Thumbs Up OK boots faster now

Checked the dma mode and right as rain it wasn't marked, enabled it there and in bios. Comp is still slow as slugs to me, but probably only bcause I am used to my fast one. An interesting thing to note though is he has an HP All in One printer on his system too slogging up the works. I took my time researching how many entries of it in msconfig I could remove before it stopped working, I was able to bring resources from 63% free at boot with all printer entries to 82% resources free...and low and behold the printer\scanner still works without all the added boot up stuff...Yay!! I am happier now thanks guys.
