PC shock problem

Alright let me explain this, I got a shock problem, lol.

Im in my parents basement with 5 computers and i must say its pretty dry and when i walk from like fridge to computer i generate alot of static. My newest computer is the only computer with this problem and its kinda weird, sometimes it happens sometimes not. I walk up to it and touch my mouse or keyboard and zap shock static shock computer ----------- shut down zzzzz.

Now im currently taking my A+ course and read about how much voltage can damage computer parts and i was amazed 30 volts ?!? wow not alot and the static generated by me is more around 3000 so im worried now.

I also read that a case is normaly grounded to some point and it doesnt happen to any other case. I first thought was hmm might be the standoffscrews but its not. so it must be the case.

any hints to grounded(i guess) the case better??? or my other thought was to just go buy a new case.

thx

my thoughts would be along the lines of a faulty ground in the outlet...

is this computer on a different outlet/wiring than the others? if not, then throw this idea out the door...do you have a power strip that has a grounding light on it?...etc...

if any of this rings a bell, then you could try and plug one of the other boxes into said outlet and see what happens..

just a thought..

This is a grounding issue, one thing to try is to directly ground the case to a water pipe ground and see if that keeps it down. Obviously, antistatic mats and the like might help.
