Missing CD Burner Program

So I get on my Dell E1505 the other day to burn an audio CD and the icon on my desktop is missing and I can't find the program either. I opened up real player and it said it did not recognize a CD burner. I've never used realplayer to burn a CD before so IDK if that's relevant. The program came with my laptop, the one I always used anyway. I don't know what happened to it. I called DELL but my warranty expired and they want 50 buck just to talk to a tech. That's crazy and I'd much rather donate to this site which has helped me once before. I'm not very smart when it comes to this stuff I don't even know how to try and locate my burner program. And yes, I lost the start up CD that came with my Laptop which I know is careless on my behalf. Any help would be appreciated.

EDIT: I found the sonic program but when i click on the install it doesn't do anything.

Re: Missing CD Burner Program

Does the optical drive show in My Computer or in Device manager?
If it shows in Device manager, uninstall it and reboot.
Laptop optical drives are generally low quality and prone to early failure.
