Hi everybody!
I have an interesting problem. I got a Dell GX270 PC without some parts for cheap. I tested with a Live Ubuntu 9.04 disc, then with a Live Windows XP disc to run a portable version of Everest to check CPU, RAMs, and other devices. Both OS-es worked well. I tried to put my old Maxtor 40GB IDE HDD which I use in my other PC with 2 more SATA HDDs, something was wrong. I powered on the Dell PC then I could see the loader screen (normally it is the POST, just it doesn't display HW datas, just a loader bar and the Dell emblem). But after POST ready, it didn't do anything. I restarted the PC with CTRL+ALT+DEL and I tried to enter the BIOS. It didn't worked too. I couldn't enter. After some try It gived me an error, I don't remember so much from that, there was something like can't boot past checkpoint [Hdsk]... The PC has 2*512 DDR RAM, 2.8 GHZ Pentium processor, a CD-ROM, and a Floppy drive. From CD it boots correctly (If no HDD connected) If there is HDD, it can't pass through the POST or it displays that error.) |

Re: Dell GX270 with HDD doesn't work!
You can get the key combo for entering the BIOS from this sticky: how to enter the bios
