Atapi CD Drive Not Working Please Help
OK. I have had this problem for months and i cant find an answer. I'm using Windows 7 64bit and for some reason my CD drive just wont work. I put in any cd and it says "d: is not accessible" the disk structure is corrupted and unreadable" What does this mean? The drive used to work fine in vista before i got windows7. i have the latest drivers for my drive but in the device manager it pops up with some weird name. I have tried ALL of the following:
1. That upper filter and lower filter registry thing.... didn't work 2. switching out CD drives..... didn't work (OS problem? Motherboard Problem?) 3. Switching CD drive cables (IDE cables i think its called?) ... didn't work 4. Finding firmware on internet and installing..... didn't work So i believe this is either a Motherboard problem (please god no) or a windows 7 problem. any help would be awesome. ![]() ![]() PS: The Virtual drive programs is not affecting this problem i think. This problem still occurred without those programs. Last edited by dtm808; 11-07-2009 at 08:25 AM. |

Re: Atapi CD Drive Not Working Please Help
So Windows recognizes the drive(s), but not any discs?
Try removing/deleting the drive from Device Manager and rebooting. Try removing/deleting the IDE controllers from Device Manager and rebooting. Aside from that, if Windows sees the drive but not any discs, I'd suspect a faulty drive. And if you haven't already, try another IDE cable.
