Fan Question !?

I have a FAN from a PC i dissasembeld (spelling soz). I has a 4 wire plug. I only know fans that have wires socket. The 4th one comes from a black seal in the middle of the other cables. Its green.

Can i place this fan on a normal 3 wire socket? It will work? Without the green one placed in?

I think it will but without the smartfan function. This allows the computer to vary the speed of the fan and helps to reduce fan noise.

The 4th (green) wire is for voltage control. It will function at full seed on a 3-wire connector.
