TV-Tuners

I am currently residing at a university where a "basic" channel line-up, provided by Comcast, is covered by room-and-board costs. This channel line up has hundreds of channels, including several HD channels (ESPN HD, TNT HD, TBS HD, etc.). So it sounds to me like these are not your free "over-the-air" channels. All of these channels can be viewed by students by simply connecting the cable to a tv.

Now, would I get all of these channels with a tv-tuner for my PC? Take, for example, this one:

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4146199&CatId=1427

From the description, it sounds like it would. But, I'm not sure, which is why I'm asking. If I would get all these channels, what is the specification that allows me to view all these channels (I may want to buy a cheaper one)?

Re: TV-Tuners

The TV Tuner should receive all the channels that you are allowed to view. I've never seen of of those in use so I couldn't say for sure.
I know a TV Tuner card will work.

Re: TV-Tuners

Do you need a Converter box in order to get the upper channels on the Tv's?
If so you'll still need the box for PC.
Comcast here is changing the lineup so that we'll need a box to receive any channels.

- If you are referring to the DTA (Digital Transport Adapter), then yes, I recently received one. Comcast is switching over to an all-digital signal, which requires a DTA or a digital cable box.

I just wanted to make sure that I would get all those channels with a tv-tuner before I went out and spent a decent amount of money on one. I don't have a TV in my room, so it's my only choice...

Re: TV-Tuners

The box will be the tuner, the only channel you need on the card is 3 or 4.
