Connecting extended monitor to laptop and xbox 360

I am planning to buy a new monitor http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=558_765&products_id=12310 and it has a dvi and hdmi port in it. I want to connect my laptop to the monitor (extended, and through dvi) and to my xbox 360 (through hdmi). I already know how to set up the extended monitor but if i connect the xbox 360 through hdmi do i need to set up some kind of switcher or will it have another channel or something, advice on how to set this up would be very helpful. Most monitors have a built in switch.
