Wireless Laser Mouse 5000

I ordered and just installed this new mouse and its driving me nuts. Maybe it's a "Live" one?? (pun on MS ??) The Magnifier function sounds like a good idea, but while working with the mouse, the magnified window comes on constantly and I spend more time clicking to return the view to 'normal'.
Can I disable the magnifier function and return to sanity? Haven't found the answer to that yet. Thanks for any tips---

I don't recall if you can disable a button entirely but you can change the function of the button.
