Question about Telnet..
How do i use telnet to connect to my school server to get like my documents off of their system. How come when i try to connect to an ISP it wont let me?

Telnet is used to connect remotely to text based operating systems like Unix. For your purposes I think your going to want an FTP client. The easiest way to do this is with Internet Explorer
in the address bar type in ftp://[Your user name]@[Your schools sever name] So for example (and this wont work so don't try it) ftp://aeuzent@www.yahoo.com Your files should show up in folder form so you can cut and paste files to your hearts delight. Of course this will only work if your school's server allows ftp connections |

Telnet is a specific service, so the host you're connecting to has to allow Telnet connections, and you'll have to have an account there. FTP is also a specific service, basically the same rules apply. I'd talk to the school IT dept. and ask them how you connect, they're the ones that will know.
