Logitech double-click button doesn't open Office files
I've been a user of Logitech mice for years and always utilized the ability to program a button to act as a double-click (seems like a no-brainer to me and I wonder why it's not a standard feature or at least a default programming configuration when you have software to give you choices).
The newer versions of the higher-end Logitech mice and the SetPoint software they come with seem to have a problem with this feature being implemented in many XP dialog boxes, such as File - Open dialog boxes in Office 2003 programs. The button I program for a double-click doesn't do the job when I mouse over the file I want to open and hit the button. All it does it select the file, like a single-click would do. In order to use the programmed double-click button, I have to first select the file and THEN hit the programmed double-click button (defeating the entire purpose, of course). The programmed double-click button works fine in many other places, but it also does NOT work in many other places, too. I've tried this with three different models of Logitech mice now, and different buttons on the, too, always with identical results. I'm using the newest version of SetPoint, 2.22.124. Logitech refuses to acknowledge the problem exists and is suggesting I do a reinstallation of the software (or, uh, return the mouse for an exchange since it must be "defective"). Can someone please tell me if they have encountered or can replicate this problem? I've had it occur consistently so far with the Logitech Cordless Optical mouse as well as with Logitech's MX900 and MX1000 mice. Thanks! |

Re: Logitech double-click button doesn't open Office files
Yes, we are having the problem as well. I am on my second model (mx518). We purchased five of them. This is the case with all five so I doubt it's a defect. On this model, there are actually MORE places where the double-click doesn't work than on the earlier model I used.

Re: Logitech double-click button doesn't open Office files
It's a different world from four years ago when I started this thread, but in today's world I've learned the hard way that when some programmed buttons don't work in some applications (usually Office applications) it's because you need to use SetPoint (the Logitech software) and go into the dropdown for each given app and set the button configurations accordingly.
