Sata?
Im am putting everything together on my motherboard (building my first PC WOO). But I noticed now I have a SATA cable, along with the SATA connectors on my motherboard. I've looked online for the definition of SATA, but none really explain what I want to know. Can someone tell me what it actually is, if it's very important and required, and if it is very important and required, maybe a little summary and where it is hooked up or any other info on it?
Thanks a mil. |

SATA = Serial ATA
Its just another way to hook up your harddrives. (yes now many will scream - hey there is more to that). If you bought a SATA Harddrive then you have to connect it to the SATA port. If you have a PATA HDD (you know like they've been for many years - big connectors on the back that connect via the flat 40 or 80 wire cables to the motherboard) then you use the IDE ports. So unless your HDD is a SATA drive then just put the cable back in the box and ignore it.
